What is a Grade Calculator?

A grade calculator helps students determine their overall course grade by combining scores from assignments, quizzes, exams, projects and other assessments according to their weights.

How Does a Grade Calculator Work?

Each assessment contributes to the final grade according to its percentage weight. For example, if an exam is worth 30% of your course grade, its score contributes 30% of the final weighted grade.

Grade Calculator Formula

Weighted Grade = Σ (Score × Weight) ÷ 100

Example

Suppose you score 90% on an assignment worth 20%, 80% on an exam worth 30%, and 95% on a project worth 50%. The calculator combines each score with its corresponding weight to calculate the overall course grade.

Common Letter Grade Scale

  • A: 90–100%
  • B: 80–89%
  • C: 70–79%
  • D: 60–69%
  • F: Below 60%

Grade boundaries can vary between schools, colleges and universities, so always check your institution's grading policy.
